Marinda Vandenheede maakt sculpturele objecten, werken op papier en schilderijen van natuurlijke, gebruikte en weggegooide materialen. Of om het met haar eigen woorden te zeggen: “Materialen die de schoonheid van verval tonen”. De gebruikte materialen tonen een sensitiviteit die in schril contrast staat met Marinda’s gebruik van strakke lijnen en geometrische vormen.

Marinda Vandenheedes kunst omarmt imperfectie, atrofie en stilstand. Het is een afwerping van perfectie, disconnectie en consumentarisme. “Ik gebruik weggegooide materialen die niet meer tegemoetkomen aan de standaarden van onze Westerse samenleving en geef ze een nieuw leven als kunstwerk.” De lagen van de tijd en de verhalen die ermee gepaard gaan zitten vervat in haar materialen. Abstract en toch van deze wereld. Marinda Vandenheedes werk nodigt je uit om even stil te staan en te kijken.
